The Only Thing That Stays The Same Is That Everything Changes
I’ve been known to listen to the occasional country tune (OK maybe more than occasional). I guess I like country because of the lyrics, like the one above. Everything in life seems to always be changing.
Even growing up, I loved to take pictures with my goofy little camera. I liked to take pictures of my friends and, frankly, anything I thought was pretty. On vacation one time, I spent an entire roll of film photographing landscapes. When those pictures came back my dad made a comment that has stuck with me since. He pointed out that even though the pictures were pretty, the mountains/plains/whatever else was in those pictures had been there for many years. What was truly unique was that our family was there seeing those things.
Sure, landscapes change. But sometimes that can take hundreds, even thousands, of years. People change – FAST. Just imagine how quickly a newborn baby grows into a chattering toddler, then before we know it into a high school senior.
Thanks to my dad, you will see lots of people in my photographs. As it should be – the people are what make the memories.
